The Library welcomes kids of all ages to all events and to our building. Easily browse for books in the Jane Vest Children’s Room. Use the genre labels and leveled colors to help your child select a book perfect for them, or flip through our books bins featuring a wonderful selection of picture books.
Arkansas Diamond Book Pairings
Students in Kindergarten through Third Grade are invited to participate in the AR Diamond Book Pairings. This program is designed to promote the State Book Award Program while enhancing the overall theme and message from the nominated title. Students will hear one of the nominated books at school, the library will host a book pairing on the Tuesday after the reading. The book pairing will be at 3:00 and will feature a read aloud of a paired book with an enhancement activity.
Charlie May Simon Book Review Club
Students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade are invited to join the Charlie May Simon Book Review Club. This club will meet on the second Wednesday of every month starting in August. The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. and last for one hour. Students will select a book from the Charlie May Simon Reading list and be responsible for reading it, reviewing it, and discussing the book during the meeting. Reviews will be posted in the library for other’s to read. After completing a book students will earn a completion piece. The overall goal of this book review club is to expose students to books they might not choose for themselves and to have positive peer interaction through the magic of books.
The Charlie May Simon Book Award program is designed to promote diverse and impactful reading. The winner of the award is chosen by the children who read the nominated books in the state of Arkansas.
